Walmart Recipe #1 - Butter Tofee Bars (yields 48 bars perfect for 4 gift sets)

Just in case you missed these great recipes I am going to repost them once a day this week.
Here is the first recipe of the week from Walmart. Each of the recipes is part of Walmart's holiday baking specials. Each of these holiday treats can be made for less than $5 a gift. I think these will make great gifts for friends and family.

When you try out a recipe I would love to see pictures of your treat and your family making them together!

BUTTER TOFFEE BARS

INGREDIENTS

• 1 cup packed brown sugar
• 1 cup butter (we recommend Land O Lakes®), softened
• 1 large egg yolk
• 2 cups all-purpose flour
• 1 cup (6 oz.) NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Milk Chocolate Morsels
• 1/2 cup English toffee-flavored candy chips**•

DIRECTIONS

PREHEAT oven to 325° F.

BEAT sugar and butter in a large mixer bowl until creamy. Add egg yolk; beat well. Beat in flour. Press evenly onto bottom of ungreased 15 x 10-inch jelly-roll pan.

BAKE for 22 to 25 minutes or until lightly browned and center is still slightly soft.
Sprinkle with chocolate chips (*NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels can be used instead).
Let stand for 3 minutes or until morsels are shiny; spread evenly.
Sprinkle with toffee chips (**you can also use 1 crushed English toffee candy bar).
Cool for 1 hour; cut into bars with sharp knife while slightly warm.

TIME
Prep:5 minutes
Cooking:22 minutes
Cooling:60 minutes

SERVINGS Yields:48

These would make a great gift for family and friends. Each batch makes 48 bars. You can divide these into 4 gift sets. I would put them in a cute holiday container or treat bag. To make it even more special you could write out the recipe card on a pretty card and attach it to the container.
