Paying it forward in 2011 - Passing out coupons at the store

Paying it forward in 2011 - Passing out coupons at the store

Since posting last week about paying it forward this year I have continued to look for ways to pay it forward. I wanted to share with you something that happened yesterday while I was at Fred Meyers. As I was walking through the pet food area I noticed a woman looking at cat food. I asked her if she would like a $1.00/8 cat food coupon. She looked at me in shock and asked me if I was really going to give her the coupon. I said that I had noticed her looking at the product and thought she might use the coupon. She was so in awe that someone was willing to help her out. She told me that she could only afford to get a couple of cans and was going to have to come back in a couple days to get more cat food. She said that with the coupon she would be able to get a weeks worth of food and not have to worry about coming back to the store. She was so shocked and grateful that someone had thought to help her out.

I really hope that as a community we can pay it forward this year any way we can. A small act like giving out a $1.00 off coupon helped someone in a huge way. Paying it forward does not have to be a huge amount of time or money.

I love doing this. If I happen to being going to the craft store and print the most recent coupon, I print an extra and give it to the person behind me on the line. People are just so thrilled!
