Paying it forward in 2011....

Paying it forward in 2011

Yesterday as I was driving through Medical Lake I saw something that both shocked and saddened me. The Medical Lake food bank was so busy that they had to have S.C.O.P.E. volunteers directing traffic. There were so many people visiting the food bank that the street was jammed with cars and people. I was amazed to see that our small town had such a huge need for the food bank.
As I was driving to the grocery store to coupon shop I really started thinking about what I could do in 2011 to help the community. While grocery shopping yesterday I passed out coupons to people when I saw they had something in their cart that I knew I had a coupon for. I managed to pass out $5.50 worth of coupons yesterday. This may not seem like a lot but I am hoping that it is a small step in the right direction.
I am hoping that all of you will join me in paying it forward this year with coupons.

Here are some of the ideas I have come up with for paying it forward this year.

-While grocery shopping if you see someone with an item you know you have a coupon for ask if they would like the coupon

-When printing coupons think about the people in your daily life that may benefit from a coupon
   Examples
     - If a co-worker or friend just had a baby maybe print some diaper coupons or baby food coupons them.
-If you know someone loves a certain product print extra coupons for them

-Instead of throwing out the coupons you will not use from the paper keep an envelope of them to help people you see in the store

-If you can pick up an item for free or low cost that you will not use put it in a box for the food bank or other local chairty

I would love to hear your thoughts and ideas on how we can pay it forward this year.  I think as a community we can help each other and hopefully others in our community to live their lives to the fullest.
