$47 for a Four-Week Boot Camp at Adventure Boot Camp for Women (Up to $299 Value)

(Up to $299 Value)

Because they are automatically disqualified from the World's Strongest Man competition, many women never bother to develop the functional strength needed for such everyday tasks as stacking boulders and pulling airplanes with their teeth. Bypass gender normatives using brute strength with today's Groupon: for $47, you get a four-week boot camp (up to a $299 value) from Adventure Boot Camp for Women. During the summer, boot camps meet outside in Manito Park, and during the winter, inside at the Heritage Congregational Church on East 29th Avenue.

Free from the competitive environment of a testosterone-stuffed gym or mixed-martial-hopscotch tournament, women's boot camp encourages the estrogen-enhanced of all ages, skill levels, and abilities to motivate each other in a comfortable group setting. Adventure's certified trainers constantly challenge participants to achieve higher levels of fitness. Each class takes exercisers through a variable variety of body-blasting, calorie-pulverizing exercises that might include core conditioning, short-distance running, jumping rope, obstacle courses, and a few last-minute surprise twists, such as discovering that boot camp was all a dream. Expected results from a successful boot-camp experience include a three- to five-percent reduction in body fat, improved posture, and a boost in endurance and strength.

The current boot-camp schedule consists of three classes per week from 6 a.m.–7 a.m. and will increase to four or five per week during the summer. Spokane Adventure Boot Camp recommends bringing running shoes, an exercise mat, a set of 5- to 8-pound hand weights, an insult-spewing parrot to provide extra motivation, and a water bottle.
