Frugal Tip of the day - Medical Bills

Frugal Tip of the Day - Medical Bills

Today I received a bill in the mail for a doctors appointment. The bill said that they had billed my insurance company and they were not paying it so I would need to. I thought this was a bit odd so I made a few phone calls. When I reached the billing company I found out that they had billed an insurance company that I had five years ago and not my current company. By calling them and checking on the information I was able to save $62.00.

Good for you! So often, especially with insurance, it is just a game of calling and asking, sometimes repeatedly!

I had a similar situation several years ago. I called and told them they had charged the wrong insurance company and gave them the correct information TWICE!! This went on to the point that it then became too late to bill the correct insurance at which time they came back to me for payment. I was able to provide them with proof of the times I had given them the correct information and then I politely declined to pay the charges since the error was on their part...... And that was the end of it.
