Dinner to support Lakewood Area Shelter Association Tuesday Night June 21st

I wanted to give everyone in the Lakewood and Tacoma area this information that was sent over to me from the Lakewood Area Shelter Association.

Don't forget to come to Carr's Restaurant on Tuesday June21st. Enjoy good food and company and support the Lakewood Area Shelter Association (LASA) at the same time. Carr's asked LASA staff and board members to come in and bus tables. In exchange they are giving LASA a portion of the proceeds for the evening. Come in anytime between 4PM and closing and we will take good care of you. This also gives you a chance to buy a raffle tickets for some pretty neat prizes.

First prize is your choice of:
• Four Seattle mariners Tickets for August 29. We have been told that these are terrific seats!
• Collectible Nutcracker
• Basket of wine goodies for a romantic evening.
All prizes to be given away.

Proceeds from dinner and the raffle will go to help LASA purchase a van. LASA has been providing services to the local community for over 20 years. LASA's mission is twofold: First prevent homelessness which is accomplished by helping local families stay housed. LASA's Outreach department is open Mon-Fri from 10 to 12 and helps local citizens with such basic necessities as toiletries, prescription assistance, rental assistance and utility assistance. The second part of LASA's mission is to prevent recurrent homelessness. This is accomplished by assigning a case manager to each homeless family we serve. The family is then provided an apartment unit along with furnishings , utilities and other essentials. Clients pay anywhere from nothing to up to 30% of adjusted income to receive services.

LASA estimates that approximately $30,000 is needed to purchase the van. Thus far LASA is more than half way to goal. The Puyallup Indians donated $10,000 and the Vogt grant pledged $5,000. LASA has also received some funds from individual donors. Please help us help our community and enjoy dinner with us. Don't forget: Tuesday June 21st starting at 4PM.
