Food Storage - Wine

Make sure your wine always tastes its best by storing it properly. All wine (still and sparkling) should be stored in a cool place with a steady temperature, away from direct sunlight and other sources of heat, such as an oven. If storing for more than a few weeks, rest a bottle on its side; the wine moistens the cork, which expands to create an airtight seal.

Chilling Wine
If you don't plan to serve white and sparkling wines right away, keep them at room temperature. Before serving, chill for about an hour in the refrigerator.

Recorking Wine
Opened bottles of still wine can be recorked and refrigerated for three to five days. Before drinking red wine, let it return to room temperature. Sparkling wines can also be kept for one or two days; for best results, use a special stopper (found at wine shops and housewares stores).
