Frugal February - Day 1

Today is the first day of Frugal February!
This month I will be posting tips, tools and challenges that are focused on being frugal.

I thought I would start the month off with a tip and a challenge

Frugal Tip -How to find coupons
Coupons are no longer only available in the Sunday paper. You can now find coupons online, in store, by mail, and attached to products. I look for coupons every time I am in a store or online. Online coupons provide you with the choice of which coupons you want to print. You do not have to print every coupon only the ones that you will use. I look for coupons every morning when I turn on the computer. When I see a coupon for a product that we enjoy I make sure and print it right then. Some coupons are released in limited numbers. You want to make sure that you print coupons as soon as you see them. That way you do not go back in a few hours or days and the coupon you wanted is gone.
Over the next few weeks I will talk about how to organize and store all of your fantastic coupons!

Frugal February -Challenge #1
Print an online coupon

Today's challenge is to print a coupon online. You can print 1 coupon or 100 depending on what you find. I know that some of you print coupons every day and others have never tried it.
If you print coupons every day try and find a coupon that you can double at Albertsons this week. (Yes we are getting Albertsons doublers tomorrow 2/2/11! You can double a coupon up to $1.00)
If you have never printed a coupon before try and find a coupon for a product that your family already enjoys. This is a great way to start couponing. You can start with 1 coupon or print as many as you find.
Let me know if you are taking part in this challenge and what coupons you printed!

Panera Community opportunity

I love online communities! I think they are a great way to share your opinion and earn some extra money at times. Many online communities pay you with gift cards for their company or Amazon. Here is an opportunity to join Panera's new community. Panera Insights Community
It's FREE to join and you'll be asked to give periodic feedback and complete surveys. It says that "as a thank you for each online survey that you complete as a member of the Panera Insights community, you will be awarded Panera gift cards, or be eligible for entry into a sweepstakes."

Inbox Dollars

If you are interested in making money online here is a great opportunity. Inbox dollars pays you to look at emails. I would definately suggest making sure that you use a seperate email account just for this and other earn money sites. That way you know the emails are not clogging up your personal email account. I have been using this site for a while. I check it about twice a week and go through the list of emails. My mom has been using it for a while and just requested a $35.00 check from them. Click Here to set up an account.

Valued Opinions

I really like doing surveys for Valued Opinions. You can earn cash or gift cards. They also have contests for Ipods and other great items!

Nielsen Home Scan

Neilsen Home Scan is a great focus group. You recieve a scanner that you use to scan all of your grocery purchases. The company is interested in knowing what people buy depending on family size and income. You earn points that can be used for gift cards and cash.

Greenfield online

I have done surveys with Greenfield for a while. They produce a good amount of surveys and are easy to complete. Remember to set up a seperate email account for surveys. This way you know that only surveys are going to that account and you have a seperate account for personal contacts

Swagucks

Search & Win

I started this morning talking about ways that I make money on the internet and I almost forgot to talk about my favorite one. You may have seen prior posts talking about Swagbucks. I love this search engine! I compare it to google but with bonuses. You earn points for doing searches. You most likely won't earn points every time you do a search but you will earn points over time. I average about 5-8 points a day. It take 45 points to request a $5.00 Amazon gift card. I normally end up getting a gift card about every 10 days. That is equal to $15.00 in Amazon gift cards a month just for searching on the internet.
You can access Swagbucks by clicking on the image above or on the right side of the blog.

Some of the ways I earn money online.....

I have been posting a lot this week about ways to save money and get free things. I thought I would post this morning about a few ways that I make money each week on the internet. I am a big fan of surveys. You can do them when you feel like it and they pay out pretty good. Here are a few of my favorite survey sites.

Mindfieldonline-this company sends you emails when you match one of their surveys. I usually get $10-25 dollars a month from this site.
http://mindfieldonline.com/referral/f9bb0e12

Survysavvy-This site does not send out as many surveys but they are normally valued really high. I have also joined a couple of discussion groups that have paid out in Amazon gift cards every month from this site.

YouData-Is not a survey site but they pay out every week. They pay on Fridays direct to your paypal account. You are paid to click on ads and view them. Some of the sites are pretty interesting. You won't make a million on this site but every little bit counts right now.

Youdata

I found something that I think you will like. The company's name is YouData (youdata.com). They are trying to convince consumers like us that we should be the ones controlling our own data and selling our own attention, not third parties like broadcasters, newspapers, and spammers. By creating a MeFile at YouData.com, I now control what ads I see and when I see them. Best part - I am selling my attention directly to interested advertisers, for real money. That's right, I get paid for giving them my attention. I can use the funds to buy music and video online, donate to charities, give to my favorite blogs and websites, or keep the change myself and do whatever I want with it.

It's real. They pay. You should check it out.

Click this link to sign up. My MeFile ID, ttillison, in the "Referral Code" will tell them I sent you.
